Winter All Around
« on: December 14, 2008, 05:31:37 PM »
So, uhhh...here goes, this is the result of a month and a half of work. For about 30mins of gameplay. In the context of .org's Winter Contest.

Winter All Around

In summary,  the story is two sided, following Allie, who takes little Stafen skating on the freshly frozen pond, while in the meantime, Allie's father, Denon, is on his ship, wondering if he made the right choice. Well, just play it, you'll see.

Features 3 minigames(out of 5 originally planned - but it's already long enough) hybrid between script and event, one of which consists of (working?) NeoMode7.

Download link - With less grammar mistakes
Download link - 20/12 small update
Download link - 21/12 final?

Note : Since the guideline of the contest was "Warm & Fuzzy", I stepped out of my usual grand schemes plot and tried to write some sortof dramatic-ish plot. Well, this is the result. I am very interested on comments on dialogues. Please speak to most NPC's twice or so (when at West Givral). In short, be constructive and report any bugs

Ooh, this is looking pretty good! May be the best one for the contest I've seen that's publicized so far. I'm gonna have to try to compete with this! c':

I can't finish the snowman puzzle. I got about halfway across before giving up. It's that I can't see how to finish it other than just keep rolling. I get all the way to the bottom before running out of options. Could you post a solution?

Spoiler: Puzzle Solution • show

So since the order of colors consists of only 4 colors, it's unfortunately simple to miss one of the red "savepoints" >.<. Well, there is 4 solutions anyhow. Usually you must always look ahead for 2-3 colors.

Thanks for that solution.

But damn that ending was sad... Nice work, chum.

I'll post a more detailed review soon.

Oh yeah, I can host it to a direct link if you want, Zeka. Harry too since you're participating too right? But I think you already got a FTP account so you can do it yourself. :p

I'll have to submit it to berrybliss one way or another, but I think it'll be much appreciated for downloaders in the meantime  Thanks.

Now that you mention it, I forgot to put it in the credits...

It's Lineage 2 Music (from a website), BBC's Planet Earth & The Blue Planet (explains the odd filenames) and one by Victor Lopez (extracted from youtube video - name's Winter, lol).

And sure, go ahead for the bugs ^^

Now that you point them out, I seem to abuse a little of the word Alright :P. Well, let's pretend it's Allie's way of speaking. Did I really wrote I we were  :-[. The blue text color is intentional, it means that you actually must fetch them yourself (just incase). True, the shadow'll need to be fixed (a little photoshopping -> rmxp's tileset is wrong) If I'm not too lazy.

I any case, it seems obvious I need to do some triple spell-checking  :-[ :-[ :-[

This game is really nice. I love the plot and it creates a winter-christmas feeling. I wish it would snow once more before christmal in Germany.
Good work, but it ended quite abruptly. I thought the fasther would find his way back to the village…
Did you plan this to be the ending?
