Edge of Despair [Music]
« on: December 15, 2008, 12:06:40 PM »
The title of this song is 'Edge of Despair' or 'Off the Edge of Despair' and it is from Final Fantasy VII (composed by Nobuo Uematsu).

I found the piano sheets on the internet and tried them on Finale (NotePad/PrintMusic). But I realized hat I didnít like the piano version much and changed it a little (so itís closer to the original).

Ah, an arrangement? Those are always fun. c: The left hand part makes it sound cave-ish, even though it's on a piano, heheh.

o.0 quite nice actually. Personally other than the fact that it's a little soft, both are good in their own way.

Thanks, you two.

@Reives: I donít know if itís possible (with Finale), but the echo-like effect in the original is missing in my version, although I would like to use it. Can it be done just by changing the volume and repeat the notes?

It makes me really nostalgic. :P
Everytime I hear this, I must think of the situation in the game: At this part, Cloud (the main character) has a 'mako poisoning' (mako is some kidn of energy, which is drenched with knowledge and at the same time the lifeblood of the planet). He is like a puppet at this time: he can neither think, nor talk, nor move deliberately, because he is in the inside of his mind.
A short time later, he discovers his real past within his very soul. Before, he lived as someone else; he misunderstood his dying friendís last wish ("you are my living legacy") Ė which he maybe did, because his mind wasnít clear at this time; some kind of make poisioning, too Ė and combined his own memories with those of his friend. One year later, when the actuall game starts, he is convinced that his past and memories are true, but there are many gaps.

By the way: Here is the ending of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII when Zack dies. This is probably the best game ending I know, because itís so sad. But finally, a see a dying main characters, whcih was my wish for years^^

"he took misunderstood his..."
I think you mean "he might have misunderstood his..."?(this portion a little weird, I'm not sure what you mean)

btw why is a main character dying so interesting?

Just cross out teh 'took', I dunno why I wrote it. :|

I like sad scenes and I ever wanted to see a main character dying to create the best 'sad effect'. ^^
Heís my favourite FFVII-character by now.

o.0 I thought it'd be Squall.
anyway maybe you mean misinterpreted instead of misunderstood? I think that's what you mean right?(even though misunderstood has a similar meaning, the context doesn't seem appropriate to use misunderstood).

Nvm, just leave it as it is first, wait till abi sees this then we'll ask her.

Yes, misinterpret is the right word. In German you can say both (at least in this case).
Thanks, btw., it helps me a lot to know the mistakes I make.

Squall is from Final Fantasy VIII.

I know, I just realised you put there 'best FFVII character' so you were only talking about the characters in FFVII. I was thinking of the whole FF series in my previous post >_> ps.

come to think of it, I seldom use misunderstood, mostly misinterpreted. I wonder why.
