Music Failing Again
« on: December 14, 2008, 05:22:22 PM »
Just dropping by with a piece of material I have been working on since the beginning of December. It's basically a very, very simple song, which started out with me just sitting down by my piano attempting to play some creative stuff... this is what became of it.

http://www.box.net/shared/1fgpg8mnx0

The first part of the melody is what I played myself. Obviously it's impossible to solo-play the part of where the harp comes in, but the main piano-work was recorded as one track.

Tell me what you think. It's obviously nothing great, but then again, I'm not a great composer nor player anyway.

I'll try to come by and check for replies when I have the time.

Regards,
Sark

would it not be better if a slightly higher pitch-ed key was used for the piano? It sounds a little too low for me. especially when it's solo it doesn't sound that nice to me.

and er by higher-pitch key thing I meant like the keys that are more on the right.
*hard to explain for a music illiterate*

I know what you mean, and it might. Just that I played it at this position, so I might as well just keep it as that until further notice =P

Thanks for your replies though (:

Oo, this has a different feel from your other two. You got some good ideas that you're trying to build, like the crescendo/transition at 1:03 - but while I can quite clearly see what you were trying to do, it seems that some of the notes used were not ones that would be smooth given that part's chord, so that kinda took away from it a little. But that's just a matter of experience; you got the ideas and the feel for them, so as soon as you're familiar with which notes are usable for which chords, you should be all set. :) Keep it up!

Thanks! Yeah, I'm working on trying to understand which notes that work with which chords. I am sort of failing... =/

Either way, been changing a little bit (while the notes are still the same), so here's the new version, still incomplete.
