Religion.

Let's talk about all things religion.

Show respect and be nice.  Accept that we all have different views, meaning, someone will always disagree with you.  Consequently, if this is a touchy subject for you, you are advised to stay away.

Please be elaborate!  Don't just come and post things like 'God created everything' or 'the Koran is the perfect word of the creator' or 'There's no God'.  State why you believe or think so.

Ultimately, the goal here is to have people from different walks of life learn from each other.   :gothat!:

I have never once seen such an explosive topic stay civil, ever. Especially once I give an honest, non-politically correct opinion.

Yeah, I don't have high hopes for this either. Here's the thing about the internet - if you say something that another person doesn't agree with, then you're going to hear about it. When you apply that same mentality to religion...it's never going to work out. Granted, these are probably the nicest forums I've ever been on, and you mentioned that only those with an open mind to discuss religion should post here, however, I imagine that it's still going to rub someone the wrong way.

I get what you guys mean, but that should be covered by the stickied Rules thread, right?  But then again, maybe religion is an exception...

I dunno man I can usually talk about religion as long as someone doesn't shove theirs my way... But as mentioned it rarely can be that way. I have talked religion with Christians and Muslim, Hare Krishna and given my own believes with Buddhists as well. I had some minor conversation about Hindu given my flatmate Indian heritage but as far as I know he is a non practitioner.

So I think that discussing religion will not really bloom here for simple reason of that we can fairly imagine there will be too much different opinions... and believe me in some cases your believe being it religion or other believe can totally destroy a relationship.

Let put this simple.
Sometimes,
For some people in different country or continent,

Religion and Money can be a really sensitive topic.
And they usually won't say too much about it and better for them to not even talk about it to avoid the differences.

Since that differences and disagreement usually makes people fight each other.
I don't say this is a bad topic, No.
It'll be a good topic if you talk it with the right person :)

And I agree with Kyo. Have you ever played Breath of Fire II? Awesome story. It's about a religion that teaches peace and love, but it knows that its followers will hate, and that hate feeds a monster deep underground. Epic story for a kid's game.

To me it seems like a lot of religions were intended to teach goodwill, and some do, but others seem to have been misunderstood. However; it seems that lots of people follow it like its a way of life. To me, religion is meant to be there as an example, not as a way of life.

Religion is like a bunch of stories that are meant to show how acting in certain ways can make you and other around you happy. However, through a chinese-whispers like way, over time religions have been passed down in more and more misunderstood and twisted ways, and you get all the different factions of a single religion.

In other words, you should live your life the way you choose, not how some religion says you should. If you choose to live by a religion, that's your own choice but no-one should have religion forced upon them. Whose to say you can't come up with your own beliefs independently?

That's just my take on it.

^I concur.

My country is predominantly Christian; subjecting religion or any of its rules to question could be considered very horrific here.  But based on years of observation, yeah, I say most Christians here don't really live the Christian life.
