I can't extract the dialogues file :(
« on: October 03, 2014, 07:34:38 AM »
I am going to make an analysis of TtM dialogue on my final collegue university project, so I bought the game on Steam. However, I do the same SenorKafee does in his tutorial to extract the dialogue file (all the DreaMaker stuff) but it doesn't work.

I already have the resources he published a while ago, but I want to know how the program works, in order to run the game with my translation. Can anybody help me, please :'( ?

I've forwarded this to someone who can help (I'm not very knowledgeable about the translation stuff). Fingers crossed you'll get the help you need.

You need a developers version of the game (aka one with the open files that you can edit in RPG Maker XP).
(Also Senorkaffee's video is quite old, it's not the actual version of Dreamaker)
Even if you are nothing more than a drop in a bucket...
Every drop leaves ripples.

As Thundercat said, you need Data & Graphics folders from To the Moon.
I can send them to you, but please wait while I ask Reives for permission first.
BTW, do you need the English version or the Spanish one?

Here is the how-to for when you have the aforementioned Data & Graphics folders:

- Download Dreamaker XP for Windows from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/zr7avi8j9wvdrvz/DreaMaker_XP-v4.9.1.rar

- Extract DreaMaker_XP-v4.9.1.rar.

- Then put the Data folder in DreaMaker's folder so it would be in the same folder as DreaMaker_XP-v4.9.1.exe is on.

- Run DreaMaker_XP-v4.9.1.exe.

- Choose "Converting RM maps to DMK maps", after it finishes, choose "Dialogs extraction from DMK maps", you will get a file named "dialogues.txt" which includes all the dialogues.

- Translate "dialogues.txt", save it, then get back to the Dreamaker.

- This time choose "Dialogs inclusion in DMK maps".

- After it finishes choose "Converting DMK maps to RM maps".

- Choose "Converting only modified files".
After it finishes, check your Data folder, you will see that those Map.rxdata files which include your translated strings are updated.

Now to test the game with your translation, go to To The Moon installation folder, move To The Moon.rgssad file to another folder so it wont be found by the game, put Data folder (the one that includes the modified map files Dreamaker made) and Graphics folder (the one you will get from a link I will send you later, in case Revies approves) in the same place that To The Moon.rgssad used to be.
Now start the game and you should see your translations in the game :)

Thanks a lot for helping, you guys! MMG, did you make any progress with that?

Edit: Oops, I just found your email and sent you the dev copy.

Thank you all so much for the help :D  I had a "panic attack" and I kept seeking a solution and asking everywhere without having read your replies, that's why I hadn't said anything... Sorry :(
