A Mac Version?
« on: August 28, 2012, 05:47:43 PM »
Hello guys, I'm new there. I've heard about To the Moon and wanted to get the game. Problem : I'm on a Mac machine from few weeks (and probably forever) and I've not found anything for the Mac users. Even not a discussion...  -cuss- Will a Mac version be released?

See ya

Hmm, the problem here is To the Moon's engine, rmxp.  :reivsweat: It's not mac compatible, and I don't think I've heard of anyone getting it to work on macs yet. But don't give up hope. It may change in the near future.

Spoiler: show

The near future may not be as near as you think...

And by that I mean nothing, because I have no idea. :p

The problem is that compatibility shell programs on Unix based system usually miss crucial .dll files for running RMXP engine. If you manage to boot a virtual machine with Win. XP on your Unix distribution the problem should be solved, but I never tried that.

Use Wine and Winebox, install the necessary components (like DX10 and .NET Framework), then install TtM. It will be buggy, and possibly very slow, but it works.

^It's easier to run virtual machine with Win OS than trying to fight with Bronze program on Wine.

Meh.

Speaking of which, I tried to install W7 on a virtual-machine, but upon loading the ISO for installation, it just bluescreens after loading. Any idea why?

Oh, I've got no problems with macs. They're quite excellent. But for gaming purposes, yes, a pc is a far better choice.

People engaged heavily in the media industry; journalists, photographers, illustrators - in some cases animators.

Of course not a necessity, some companies still go with PCs for work. The thing is that Windows is an OS that is developed for ALL hardware which can make it sluggish at times, where as Mac is developed for the hardware you get in the box thus making it more optimized.

They both have their ups and downs, it just depends on what you're looking for.

Old River was as dead as a doornail, this must be distinctly understood or nothing wonderful can come of the story I am about to relate.
