Can Manufactured Memories Be as Powerful as Experience?

Well to start we don't know what technology will be available in the future. I expect that 500 years ago no-one thought it was possible to land on the moon, so in time who knows.

I think that they would have to all be taken from real experiences in your real life so nothing that doesn't need to be changed wouldn't be affected that much, giving these memories a much more real 'feel' about them. And since they are probably reconstructed out of previous experiences with a little bit of imagination provided by your mind and the machines data base I expect that they would seem pretty real and realistic. All the sights, sounds, smells and feeling from the previous original life would be there too.

So, in conclusion, I think that they would be as powerful as real life experience as they, and all the feelings, would be taken from real life. On the basis that this technology is available to the public. Since it is in the game a general presumption is that it is just as powerful as a real experience in the game.

But nice link. Very thought provoking :)
