As we try to translate TtM, we want to catch as many of the references as possible, so they aren't lost within the translation. Some of them aren't so obvious for non-native speakers and could slip through -
Like "The Pilgrim's guide to Origami", which is referencing to "The hitchhiker's guide to Galaxy".
What other non-obvious references have you found in the game?

Well since not many people here even know any other anime than digimon and pokemon I think many wouldn't understand "The memories are going Laputa on us", "Kamehameha" and those who didn't spend their young years in arcade centres "Hadouken" quotes. (Miyazaki have only two or three movies translated to Czech: Mononoke-hime, Howl's moving castle[not sure], and Spirited Away)

They rarely know other consoles than Nintendo 64, PSI, Game Cube and newers.

A few other ones I remember from the top of my head:

-How I Met Your Mother reference - last age, first scene (Watts introducing himself as "Lorenzo von Matterhorn" <-a quick google should do)

-Doctor Who's Tardis reference, at the middle age part where River first started folding the rabbits (when checking out the piano)

-When Watts was struggling on a particularly-coloured horse (whose tail magically turned to certain shades for that 3-second appearance), right before Eva hopped on one too, he said something like "This is 19% more than I can handle!" -- I'll leave that one to Thunder (not sure if there's any translation barrier to that though).

Could this be a MLP reference? :D 20% AND the certain colors that were rainbow-ish?

Of course it is ;p
Though I wasn't sure if it is one, when I played the game, because I didn't see the rainbow colour.
My little Pony isn't aviable in German yet, so there is no German substitute for it.
I've already rescued the other MLP reference "Eyup" from being "translated" ^^

More like this I think.

TEARS FOR FEARS - SHOUT (ORIGINAL)
Old River was as dead as a doornail, this must be distinctly understood or nothing wonderful can come of the story I am about to relate.
