Possible Chinese Translation?
« on: November 10, 2011, 07:41:26 AM »
Me and Chiefie are thinking of doing a Chinese translation, but as far as I know, RMXP doesn't seem to support non-Roman characters. Any thoughts?

Well, RMXP is a japanese product, so it most likely supports Non-Roman characters.
I think it is a question of the font that is used by the project, but maybe Reives knows more about that.

I got a similar request about cyrillic characters. We'll have to test that.

Cyrillic works, so chinese is worth a try.

Good to hear. For English-to-Chinese titles though, most of them don't tend to be literal translations. So should we go with a literal one? Or something slightly off like "Journey to the Moon (月游, 月游记)", or something more different?

Don't ask me - I don't know what is usually done to titles in Chinese. XD
Maybe you should also ask Reives to give you your own suub-board or at least move that thread.

As an Chinese, I just thought the literal one (去月球) is the best. Cause this wish was came from a very young boy actually, and this one was buried deeply in the old Jouney's mind till his last time. And another one I figured out is "a date with moon (相约在月球)",  which hit the point better.

It's not a complex plan but just a simple wish. So, named it easily.

And I'm so love this game and I just preparing translating it into Chinese.

Wonder is there anything I can help.

Nothing will happen until someone steps forward. I say, go to it. The Italian translation board, while the very first to write a thread here (before there were even translation boards), didn't even garner enough willing Italian-speakers into discussion until just recently.
