from i've seen it looks REALY good, but an error in a script popped up in the first conversation (between michael and an examiner or something like that?) i'll give you a screen when i get back to it, but do you know what could be wrong?

EDIT:

here's the shot of the error

Spoiler: show

Oh damn, the dreaded error 58.  I know one other person that got this problem and it was a sound card issue.  What kind of computer are you running?  What's your sound card?  Are your drivers fully up to date?  As far as I know, this is a hardware issue.  You might be able to solve it temporarily by hitting F1 and disabling sound effects.

Will I be missing a lot if I turn sound effects off? I got my computer rather recently (it was some time in the last year), so my stuff should be fairly up to date.

Not too much.  As long as you keep the music on. :)

a completed project!
Except it's not.  It ends on a cliffhanger; not only are there future acts but judging by the title future volumes too.  Not too mention Act 1 took me hours to complete.  Ambitious, huh?
Awesome game Sailerus.  There were a lot of passability and priority errors, but they could be overlooked.  I found a lot of the traveling in Alibaas (sp?) to be kind of lacking gameplay wise, but where there was stuff to do it was actually pretty fun.  It was mostly that the plot was forced a bit too much that made it tedious, but thankfully that stopped around the time you meet the blondie with the spear.
Good job and make sure Act II comes out faster than this one did.
I recently discovered that I was capable of sending coins to myself, and exploiting this is surprisingly entertaining.

I tried what you said. I got a bit farther, but soon after some explosion i got the same problem.

^woops, thought I had already put this in.

I did what you said, and got a little bit farther, but then it crashed again. (but now I just saw your latest post. sweet!)

Thanks for playing and the review!  There'll be a total of four acts, but they're being released as standalone because it's just too much of an undertaking to try to make it all at once.  They're just convenient ways of breaking up development.  Act II I'm hoping will be done by the end of the year; most of what took so long with Act I was problems with communication and other internal issues.  Now that the framework is all there, it's just a matter of building upon it.

What's The Way?

Also, for those having the audio crash, Traverse from the RMXP.org forums found a solution.  Download this .dll and replace it with the one in the game:

I'm trying to download the .dll file, but the page isn't loading. I clicked the 'download now' button, then the next 'download now button,' but then the next page won't load.

This error is just a curse, isn't it?

I uploaded the dll file here: http://files.filefront.com/fmodexdll/;13493548;/fileinfo.html
Sorry for the trouble. ^^;

More Info on The Way: http://crestfallen.us/game.html
If you play one chapter and stop, it'd feel like a cliffhanger in that game, but at least most of the time the ending is pretty smooth.

I finished what's out, it's awesome! The youtube video for 'a story alone' says that it is the 'intro length' or something like that, do you have a longer version? I've totally gotten addicted to that song!

There is a full version, but it'll be packaged with Act II.  Thanks for playing, by the way!  Did you get through the credits?  The game allows you to save so that you can import your character data into Act II.

kinda like the .hack series...

A letter, a word
...
A sentence, a paragraph
...
A page, a story
...
A book, a novel.
...
They all mean so little when you can't take time to put your soul into the work.
