[POLL] Favorite TtM Song
« on: November 03, 2011, 01:42:43 PM »
The soundtrack to To the Moon was nothing short of glorious. I've even read reviews that have stated, "if the soundtrack had been released twenty years ago, it would be a classic today." (That's a paraphrase. I'll properly quote it later.)

So, what song did you like the most? A lot of them were variations on the main theme of the game, but which variation did you find the most pleasant? And was it because it was a good song, or because it resonated well with the scene it was in?

I'm not sure about favorite, but Take Me Anywhere (the one during the horseriding scene I think) is pretty awesome. It's so lighthearted and really fits the scene it's used in, and has an amazing rendition of the title theme in it.

Either "Bestest Detectives in the World" or "Beta Blockers" or "To the Moon" feat Laura.

The Bestest Detectives in the World just brings back the epicness of Watts... The Beta Blockers are so epic!!!! And Laura rocks those vocals.

I don't know if it's my favorite but I want to hear the one in the montagey part again, the one with Laura. I think it's Everything's Alright, I guess I'll know when the soundtrack comes out.
Old River was as dead as a doornail, this must be distinctly understood or nothing wonderful can come of the story I am about to relate.

I seriously love "Everything's Alright" with Laura singing. Fits so well in the game. My second favorite is "Having Lived".

Also, wow. After "Everything's Alright" played, "Having Lived" plays in a lower pitch. That's exactly what I dreamed for in a game!

There's something about the notes of Everything's Alright, especially at the beginning. While the lyrics is not negative, the notes seem to remind me that even though Johnny's wish was being fulfilled (as the song was played), his life was also being shortened and death is nearing him at a steadier rate (due to the fatal nature of the technology employed) but leaves me hanging and conflicted (in strangely, a good way) of what to feel as the events unfolded side by side with the song.

EDIT:
I dunno, I think the key of the song is similar to a lot of songs that I've heard in funerals and other real-life sad stuff.

After much inner debate, I've decided I like "Tomorrow". It has a really inspiring feel, as well as being ultra cinematic and a touch different than most of Kan's other gems. Odd, too, because I think it was one of the last songs made for the game and, from what I saw in beta, used to be called "yeah".

For the record, it edged out "Born a Stranger" by just a hair. That song always gave me a Mitsuda vibe.

My all-time favourite would be Anya by the Stars. :)
But Anya holds a special meaning for me only Hungarians would understand, so I guess it's part of the reason :)
