Pause Ahead
« on: January 27, 2014, 03:03:56 PM »
http://askiisoft.com/games/pause-ahead/

I just recently played this game, and well.. It's absolutely gorgeous. The game is very challenging. It also uses an opposing narrative which meshes well with the game's challenge to give you a feel of overcoming the game instead of simply playing it.

I think it also starts subtly expressing deeper meanings once you start getting farther in. I'm basically enthralled and have placed these developers on my small personal list of Developer Idols.

Oh yeah, the basic mechanic of the game is that you're playing a platformer with a glitch in it where pausing has become an actually useful game mechanic.

Got to level 18. Time for a break, it's pretty tiring.

Thankfully, it will remember your position. It certainly is exhausting, I had to take a break as well while playing through it.

Level 4, baby! Woot!

I get pretty exhausted by platformers like this, even with a cool system gimmick. It looks and sounds great, but this genre isn't my thing. I also played Tower to Heaven, which it looks like this person is also the creator of. Glad you shared it!

I actually don't like Tower to Heaven quite as much. And I'll be honest: it's the graphics. Gameboy style and the like just doesn't do it for me.

Isn't that one of the earlier levels? Just pause glide across it.

That was a pretty good game!

Final boss was all like: Ping! Pew pew pew! Zip zip zoom!

And game music is pretty good! It was a fun half hour. Thanks for sharing!

Game Developer: One who relishes in the tears of players. It doesn't matter how they get the tears.

Level 12... Getting there...

Level 18. I GIVE UP! It's impossible!

Yeah, 18 is just too long. I would probably finish it, but it'd take too much time.
