Minecraft

This is technically an indie game; it was made by one guy and just sold its one millionth copy.

Minecraft Fanmade Trailer

The main component of the game is creating the world around you; kind of like building things with lego blocks (materials like iron, wood etc. that you mine/collect). It's pretty amazing what people have built -- just search Minecraft on Youtube. There're also monsters that come out at night, and you can create armors and weapons etc. to fight them (or just hide in a shelter), but that's relatively trivial.

There's a free and convenient multi-player internet browser version of the game, with just the building things part of the game (with infinite materials). Gubi from Spongen set up a private server that you can access:

http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=4039c32d6a1a159fb94c4b9c6bf01e2b
(You need to register an account at www.minecraft.net first and be logged in as you enter the server in order to see others.)

If you guys wanna go check it out, check it out with others and build something together or whatnot -- it's less fun to go in there by yourself. :p We could have a Freebird Minecraft party sometimes, much like iSketch sessions, and create something epic.

Lol, to be honest I don't actually find it that addicting; I honestly thought that I would've, though. I've only booted it up a few times since I got it, although that may be because I'm just a little overly occupied with other things at the moment.

None the less, I think it's a brilliant game, and the browser-version made me go "it could be fun to have Freebird parties here, where we can actually do stuff together". Do you play it, mepwnn?

Nah, but a guy I'm subbed to on youtube, GoldGlove, put a few videos on it. Though he's usually a CoD/GoW player.

I've already tried it, it's quite funny, you can build yourself glas tunnels trough lava or make giant waterfalls.
Sometimes a bit annoying you have to plant torches everywhere to disable monster spawn.
Even if you are nothing more than a drop in a bucket...
Every drop leaves ripples.

I play it sometimes, when I have nothing better to do.

I had a go at the offline version. Its pretty fun exploring I found a secret cave under a waterfall and died many times building a bridge in mid air.

Does the online version suck up internet usage?
