Game_Map error [resolved]
« on: June 03, 2010, 07:12:06 PM »
Agh. I needs help. >:

I was testing out a new map/tileset in-game, and when I passed over a certain area, it kept giving me this error:

Quote
Script 'Game_Map' line 305: NoMethodError occurred.

undefined method '>' for nil:NilClass

Being scripting-illiterate, I don't get what's wrong so I can fix it. e_e

Lol. I see what happened. I managed to fix it. Game_Map error, I dub thee the "Ghost Tile" error.

In the case this happens to anyone else, I'll go through what happened:

I added on a few things to one of the RTP tilesets, and when it didn't look as well as I hoped, I removed those add-ons. But what caused the error to appear was that even though I removed the add-ons, the map was still trying to use those tiles (I didn't erase them from the map, just the tileset). This resulted in what I call "ghost tiles." The map was literally not using a single tile from the tileset - not even the blank one. I remedied this by passing over the offending ghost tiles with the blank tile, and voila! Bye-bye Game_Map error. :3
