Joyful Tidings
« on: May 02, 2009, 09:16:06 AM »
Technically the fourth song in four days. I actually finished this yesterday, just didn't get around to uploading it.

Clocking in over two minutes, it's my longest song yet! A happy song, the piano gets a bit overpowered once the music box starts up, but it's still really good. Please Enjoy!

Pretty nice, and it's good that you're getting so many songs done in such a little time. But you need to take time to make your songs. They don't spontaneously jump out of your head onto the Notepad. So take a little time to think of your melody and accompaniment, then put the notes down.

But other than that, pretty good! Though a bit... hectic with the music box :P

yeah, i wanted to make the music box quieter, but the notepad's volume signatures work for all instruments, so there wasn't really any way to balance it. i'm keeping record of how long all of my songs are, and they keep getting longer as i do them. hopefully this is the last of my 'spammed out' songs, and now i'll actually put some heavy work into them

Hey, this is pretty fun. Seems like you're improving too. c:

Part of it could use a bit more variation (the music boxy sound base) sooner; when you repeat it, it's usually a good idea to introduce some sort of a (even if small) variation after two repeats. One other thing is that the same chord progression/phrasing is being used in the entire song - an A B A form could be nice. But again, you're still off playing around with themes, so it's no problem.

Good luck with the next piece! I'm sure you'll improve again.
