Hello everyone, I am new here!

I was born in China and now live in Europe, so besides English I can read German and Chinese as well. Since I love the game very much and therefore wanted to play it more than just once, by the second time I've played it in Chinese and third time in German "way"; that's to say, I've also used the opportunity to "compare" these versions somehow.

The German Version ist well done. Thanks everyone who made it!

As to the Chinese version, eh... how should I say...

well, since there is no Authorized Translation yet, I got the Chinese Patch (圆桌汉化版) - which was widely spread in China  - from one of the Chinese forums. And it is very interesting...

In that version,

-John was managing Beta-Blockers as he was young, and he hided his record himself, which implicates, he had removed the Beta-Blockers from the safe and used it in some "illegal" way :fezesarecool:.

-Neil was intended to have run over the squirrel :platquack: so they are able to treat John.

-There was indeed a malfunction with the machine .

-Lily knew some secrets of Johnny, but couldn't remember -cuss-.

-John than married Lily ...

and so on.

Not to mention hundreds of minor errors, including conversations containing such as "le fromage-cheesy", TARDIS", "catapult", "papercut-scissorcut-uppercut" and so on: NONE of these was translated properly, some of them are even MISLEADING.

As a true lover of this game, i can't just stand that she was translated in that way! And more worse, this patch is widely spread in China, which means, more people who don't have enough knowledge of English would simply play the game with that patch, which (in my opinion) just ruined the game...

Some of my friends, including "fay_envoy", have recently made a translation of the minisode (holiday special),
http://freebirdgames.com/forum/index.php?topic=5474.0
I tested it myself; it's very well done. So I believe they have the competence to make a nice translation of "to the moon" as well. I really hope there could be a chance to make a authorised, more correct translation of "To The Moon", only which could effectively stop the game being interpreted in that funny way...

I thought it was somehow "urgent" to create a sub-forum for Chinese-speaking volunteers and let the game be translated by people who really know, love and respect it, in some nice way, but the moderator seems to have got lost... Anyway, since "to the moon" is not a free-game, my friends and I would like to get the agreement of FreeBirdGames first before we start; it would also be very kindly if the original game files could be given, since some pictures need to be modified (translated) as well, and some of us think it is not good to unpack the rgssad file without notifying the author...

So Reives please help us :Evapple:!!!

Hi charlesoboe, and welcome :)

There are two things that I can do for you:
- I can send you the Steam-free version of Data and Graphics folders from the English version.
- I can send you 15 PSD files from the German version which allows you to simply change the text to Chinese so you wouldn't need to recreate those graphics.

I have done the first thing before and Reives seems to be quite alright with it:

My guess is he would not mind the second thing either, specially since you are trying to help with an approved and correct translation and there already exists an incorrect and unapproved translation.

But about having an official sub-forum for the Chinese translation project, I guess only Reives can do that and you are doing right by asking him for it.

Hey Charles, thanks for the heads up and the enthusiasm. :) I actually wasn't aware that there were so many blatant inaccuracies -- that's a little sad to hear. As per request, I made a Chinese board to make things easier (thanks to Q-mark and Ali for the heads up too).

P.S. The holiday special translation's fantastic, and I'm really glad that it came out so well! Great job to fay_envoy and folks. If there're any files that you'd like, lemme know and I'll get to them. (I'm currently away from home, but will be back in a couple of days.)

Wow, that's great! Thank you Reives, for the QUICK support! :plat:

And thank you Ali for your kindly help! Since I'm not a program specialist, I am sure fay_envoy is going to contact you soon, with a lot of technical details.

Now let's look forward for the new translation :-*
