Title: How do you inspire your creativity?
Post by: Tumbles on July 01, 2012, 07:45:43 AM
Yep, I'm just curious. Whenever I've got a bad case of writer's block, or am a little stuck writing music I've found that taking a bath always helps my creative juices flow. Anyone else have any tips on creativity? I wanna steal them. ;D

I don't know how I get mine. I'm usually bored and I come up with song ideas. Or maybe I have a theme I want to write for.

However, Bill Waterson (author of Calvin and Hobbes) wrote that he likes to do his work out in a park, since, in his words, bugs and rocks can yield interesting observations.

I think wonderfully while walking. A fifteen minute stroll can refill my head with a tone of new ideas. If I'm hiking or walking for more than an hour, I've usually thought up so much stuff that I have to stop and write it down if I can.

For me, I usually get back my creative juices and motivation when I'm at school or doing things I really don't like. But when looking for ideas, I look at motifs and sometimes lots of daydreaming lololol.

Digital Art! Every time I want to be inspired, I just search through a digital art gallery and find a picture or more that speaks to me in some way. It's wonderfully refreshing and, hey, you know what they say about a picture!

My muse is frighteningly fickle. Random things usually trigger my creative drive, so I am no help.

I picture a fierce sword fight between two arch-enemies. Kinda like Dante and Vergil: deadly, lightning fast, mind-blowing! I follow the fight up until my head literally starts to heat up due to the high flow of blood in my brain. And here we go...  ;)

Lately, I've been forcing myself to sit down and make a song in less than 8 hours. Having a short deadline that I need to finish before the end of the day has made me much more creative than I usually am. Of course, not everyone is lucky enough to have a solid 8-hour chunk of time to burn, but I thought it might be helpful to others.

Weather, solitude. (https://freebirdgames.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.4thgrader.net%2FSkypeEmoticons%2F0143-heart.png&hash=d4443abaac19314fdd109467a65721a3) I don't walk a lot, but that works sometimes too. :P

A different type of creativity but I had to come up of some ideas for an entrepreneurship class, my partner and now very good friend brought me to a peace pogoda  I pretty much sat down on a stretch of grass between two ponds and just started thinking. It was a warm spring day a bit windy but I was under the sun so it felt awesome lol! Definitely a unique experience I just started overflowing with crazy technological ideas.

Outside that rare exception, I take walks, take a nice hot shower and just think, definitely a change in environment helped me a lot in that particular exception. So try that.
