Title: [New Release] Chapter 1-9, with revamped C1
Post by: Freebird Games on September 27, 2008, 07:02:57 PM
[Post will be updated with more info soon.]

-Start from the beginning, until either the end of chapter 1 or chapter 2: Intro and chapter 1 has been revamped, chapter 2 has a couple of game-play elements added.
-If you can, I'd recommend just playing through everything and not use a provided save file, since it's been a long time - but that's obviously asking for a lot, so suit yourself. c:
-Do not use your old save files.
-I will upload the save files for continuing in a bit.

I iz happy!

1. I can see the semi-final product!
2. I can see more reactions. It was so much fun on the Beta Board discussions. Having twenty extra people'll be even better!

Indeed, it will be.  :3  Off to play a version with less bugs.  Wahoo!

By the way, Reives.  Do players need to have RMXP or the RTP installed on their computers in order to run Q and TML?  Because I was trying to make a few friends play TML, but they couldn't run it.  Basically, a dll and the RTP were missing, and they weren't willing to download those only to play the game.  So really, it's sad that for such reason many potential players will miss the experience of playing TML or even Quintessence (if this is the case for Q as well).

Do you have a copy of TML that includes all the necessary files to run it?

Post by: Freebird Games on September 27, 2008, 07:18:56 PM
Quintessence = standalone, TML = RTP required at the moment, but I am going to fix that to be standalone as well soon so I can post it on other places. c: My apologies.

lol, ok. I was thinking it was a new signature, or you'd put it up in other forums, and I didn't know wheth it would be the  link or a link to the site. It's pretty sweet looking.

Are you working on the save files now?

Ooh, that's a good idea actually! I'm gonna use it as a sig soon now. And I already got the save files for every single chapter; just gotta upload.

When will you put up the chapter 9 save file? I just finished the intro aswell and I was extremely impressed ( To say the least ).

Oh, will do so now. But Chapter I has some major changes as well, so you might want to finish that before going to C9. C2 has two game-play things added but they aren't important.

Ah ok, I'll continue on with it now then.
Title: Re: [New Release] Chapter 1-9, with revamped C1
Post by: Ruben on September 27, 2008, 09:04:38 PM
I played through chapter I and the beginning of chapter II by now.
I have to say that I was surprised about the big changes in the "prologue" - the music sounded different and so on. But after a while I got used to the new style.
The puzzles in the Shrine (is this the Shrine of Osiris?) were well-thought and fun to play. It wasn't really hard, but it tool me some time. I was surprised about battles so early, but they are fun - it took me a while to defeat the golems, 'cause they never chased me after I activated the switch -.- Badluck, I suppose.
However, the new atmosphere is great; the arrangement of To Realize too.
The conversation of Reivier, Lunair, Eshe etc. was also quite different. The dialogues seem more logical now, means that there is more background information and some things I thought are very different (at first I thought Dasha would be Eshe's reanimation); and so on...

Now it's 1 and a half years ago - wasn't it 6 month before? In chapter I there were many changes, too, including dialogues, the deer hunt which was really fun and some new maps.

Okay, back to Quintessence

Try to press the action button in front of the pedestals - they will show you the right constellation. Then turn them of again and you can slove the puzzle :)

Well, I originally couldn't wait so I decided to start with my old save files to see the beginning... I stopped though because I was scared it wouldn't work after. So now I download the save files, get excited to play and realize that it starts at the ending of chapter 8... which means I'll have to go through another extreme crying fest again  :'(

If anyone hears about flooding in Vancouver, Canada you'll know what happened.

Woo, a fellow Canadian. 8) My old roommate came from Vancouver. I love the downtown there, I think there was this one place where I looked down and it was like a steady hill with futuristic-looking buildings afar.

Umm....

I actually do have a Canadian accent, eh?

(Seriously, I really do.)
Title: Re: [New Release] Chapter 1-9, with revamped C1
Post by: Reives on September 28, 2008, 11:57:42 PM
I never actually heard people saying "aboot" here though, but I say Eh a lot. Switch between that and "hm?" I think that's cause I live near larger cities, where as in less urbanized areas there are.

You said it Rieves dun lie :)
Title: Re: [New Release] Chapter 1-9, with revamped C1
Post by: abigailian on September 29, 2008, 12:00:50 AM
It seems like they're more wont to say 'Hey' on the West Coast, instead of 'Eh' which is a totally uncanadian abomination, if you ask me. :P

I've heard aboot plenty. Well, technically, it's not an 'oo' it's just more of an 'uh/eh-oo' as opposed to an 'ah-oo' if that makes any sense.
Title: Re: [New Release] Chapter 1-9, with revamped C1
Post by: Sizzle on September 29, 2008, 02:03:54 AM
So do Canadians really say "eh" or "ay" all the time or is that just a sterotype...?

Hey fireboat, thanks a lot for posting it on that Thai forum! Hima actually showed me it on my thread in GW, and I recognized you as the thread starter.  Glad that it is well received for the most part. I don't understand Thai, but there were some posts that had "100MB "; I could probably guess what they were saying there. :p Ah well, maybe some day I'll make a chapter 1 only version for people to test the waters. Was supposed to do it this release, but time ran out. ._.

And woo, Green Dragon - but does that mean that you played it without music? D: Or just that midis are messed?

It played it with the music on, and all of it was messed up... Gonna transfer it to my laptop, soon. Might just be problems with the speakers...

EDIT: By the way, what's up with all those baked potatoes. (I call all brown roundish things, baked potatoes. Even if they are something like the 'Ocarina Potato', that still looks like a potato to me...)

Can you use headphones instead? The music is a big piece of the gameplay and makes it 5x better.
