I got to the cotton puzzle, and the riddle... if someone forgets it, they're screwed. Next time you put a riddle in, put the riddle back in as a refresher.

Also, the words get cut off every now and then, so that isn't good.

Er.. I ran into what I can only assume is a teleport bug:

As you can see, I'm nowhere visible on that screen. I can't even move around.

The map is a little cramped in places . . . and you still need to work on your grammar, dear. But don't worry! That's why you've got me! :)

Game status: trying to remember the information about the pixies and mermaids and honeybees.

Post by: Miss Nile on September 27, 2009, 06:19:14 AM
@mepwnn: Ahh little confused about what you mean. Which riddle do you mean and what's the problem you're having with it?

And yeah, I know about the text being cut off but I have no idea how to fix that. O_o

@Rayen: O_O That's really weird. I encountered this bug but I am sure I fixed it. Will take a look again.

@Amaranth: Sorry about the grammar. Mine is not perfect and all. ^^;

If anyone needs the answers for the riddles, me can provide~ :)

No worries! I'm one of the only grammar freaks of my generation left. I just know it. And I might need the answers to those riddles. Weren't they mentioned in the books about the magical creatures? I don't remember seeing 'em there . . . could be forgetting, o'course. :D

Question 2 - Fishermen
Question 3 - Dust

Ah! So I was right! I just didn't know I had to use a capital first. :P

Thanks, Lance. I am glad you liked it. ^^

Ahh for anyone who finished the game, I would like to ask how long did it take them to finish it completely. It took about 15-20 mins for me but I knew where to go and all so I'd like to ask how long did everyone take to finish.

Also, there is a topic at Snow Flower Games to put down your suggestions and what you liked and didn't like about the game. If you have anything in mind for the game, please feel free to write it there. If you are not a member, it doesn't take a few seconds to register. ;)

I liked this game...Until there was a bug in that sea town. (I donīt remember the name)
I went to someones house (I donīt remember whoīs) and my characters didnīt show up. I tryed to move with arrows but nothing happened.  :-X

Hi FullMoon,

I remember encountering that bug, too.  If you have a previous saved game file before that bug, you should go ahead and load that and just avoid the house for now.  Love posted that she'll get to fixing that.

I do remember that later on, your playable character does need to go back to the house so it's a good idea to remember its location.

This is so cool game Luv   :-*
Same with Fullmoon, i got that bug in Sailiana (it's the town name right? ) at Ma'am Dora house.  :(
But really, i think you are more greater then Reives (because you're 14 and he's 20 :P )
The only bad think about this game is : no faceset. If you can't make it from your own, you can still make it from facemaker you know

Edit: BTW, where you find those mermaid sprite? My friend from RMID is ask for it.

Ok, regarding the bug in Ma'am Dora's house, I know what the bug is so I am going to fix it as soon as possible. I apologize for that. ^^;

But really, i think you are more greater then Reives (because you're 14 and he's 20 :P )

This is the most flattering comment I've ever gotten. xD

Thanks, D. ^^ Regarding the facesets, I might get my own original soon or even make them myself. And I got the mermaids from here,

^That last it's kind of spoiler ::)

Sorry about that.  I honestly didn't think it was.  I just think as a general rule of thumb, it's a good idea to remember locations of places, etc., as they can be useful later on if you need to backtrack and such.
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day

So I finally got around to playing this. I liked it, but at the beginning it was kind of boring (when doing the shopping). Maybe doing extra stuff would've made it more interesting for me (i didn't do anything besides what i needed to). And yeah, those questions are impossible if you didn't read any books.
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day
Post by: Miss Nile on October 03, 2009, 12:06:11 PM
Thanks for the input, Vasha. Regarding the questions, no worries. Hints will be added accordingly in the game.

As for the beginning of it, do you have any suggestions to add? I'd add side-quests, but it would be unreasonable, you know, since it has nothing to do with the main quest of the game and there will be no useful rewards.
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day
Post by: Vasha on October 03, 2009, 04:55:36 PM
I can't really think of anything, cuz i can't really see any way to get all that stuff besides going to shops and buying it.

Also, what happens if you accidentally buy too much stuff to not be able to buy all the things you need?
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day
Post by: Miss Nile on October 03, 2009, 05:00:53 PM
Yeah, good thinking. Maybe I can add side-quests as first aid for those?

Oh! Another glitch (heheh, i'm just full of em, aren't I?), when you talk to one of the two fairies while trying to make the couple fall in love, but you do it from the bottom instead of the top, they'll face away from each other instead of towards each other (when you tell them to look different directions).

Also, how did you get the moving background during the name changes? that was pretty cool
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day
Post by: Miss Nile on October 03, 2009, 05:21:03 PM
Ahh thanks for reporting this glitch, Vasha. I will look in it. ^^

And the moving background during the name changing is a script made by Mog. I can link you if you'd like.

Sunlight doesn't work like this.  It's like RM fogs: a cheap aesthetic effect that gives the illusion of better mapping.  It might work in a cave or dark area as if there holes in the ceiling producing sunbeams, but that's still pretty incorrect when you consider perspective.  If you insist on keeping it, at least turn down the opacity and blur the image.  As it is it's glaring and distracts (and detracts) from the map.
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day

The sun is peering through the clouds. It does this in real life, so you're wrong Troll. Plus that, it's a fantasy game.
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day
Post by: Rayen on October 04, 2009, 07:20:31 PM
Even if they're peering through clouds, sunbeams aren't as defined as that outside, in real life. How often do you clearly see the edges of a ray of light during daytime?

That's pretty much the most overused excuse ever and it isn't a logical excuse anyway; unless it's an element of fantasy that's actually given an explanation or at the very least a clear mention, it's only a crude and ineffective way to defend a point.

"Nitpicking" for the sake of constructive critiquing is a valued kind of post (as long as the delivery is in good manners). One doesn't have to agree with it, it's just a suggestion brought up for the author to consider.
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day

Constructive critism doesn't have to be cold and mean.
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day

My advice and critique has never been a personal attack, so being insulted in return is discouraging, to say the least.  The alternative to direct and informative help would be insincerely sugarcoated and indirect pseudo-help, and if I have to stoop to such levels in order to help people I would stop trying.  Besides, I haven't been going around flaming developers, so if I could stop getting such unnecessary responses I would appreciate it.
Title: Re: Fantasy on Mother's Day
Post by: Miss Nile on October 05, 2009, 05:32:45 AM
Peace, everyone.

KRoP, I appreciate your comment and yes, I see what you mean here. I will try around it and see how I fix this point. Anymore suggestions will be welcome.

Raxy, I also appreciate what you said but I think KRoP was only trying to point out the wrong things in my game so that I fix it and make it better. That's what constructive criticism is all about. ^^

Anyone, please feel free to post anymore suggestions if you feel like it~ <3

I finished the game!!! And it's so sweet Luv!!  :)
Oh, i see sometimes there's a 'But of course' at first sentences (when the main character and Ella talking),  it sounds little weird to me (or it just me), just change it to 'of course'

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Meh kinda makes it awkward in a real-life convo. In chat like here and on IMs it's OK, but in games, try not to use meh. And uh/um can be used in awkward situations, the way you used it in the beginning (I think, I haven't played for a while) makes the actual dialogue sound strange and stuff

'But of course!' is a valid English statement, I think, so I see no problem with it. Is there any reason you think it's weird, D? ^^

And I forgot to credit someone? Sorry, my bad. o-o

'Meh' was used only by the fairies and fantasy creatures only to show cuteness. I don't really think it makes it feel awkward. o-o And 'umm' and 'uhh' can be used anywhere, I think. I use it myself in real life. o-o

Ah, another one: Is they already know Superman that time? (in game)  :o

Just for the humor, that's all.

Hey Love! :)

I already downloaded and finished the game. It was so sweet, I really enjoyed playing it.

However, there are a few grammar errors here and there that need to be fixed. The thing that bothered me the most was the riddle/puzzle part:

-1-

When Tity asks you to solve the riddle and you get an incorrect answer, she tells you to try again, but doesn't offer to repeat the riddle again, which makes it impossible to figure out the correct answer without loading a backup file - if you had made one.

-2-

The honeybee riddles were also hard to figure out as honeybees aren't really known mythical creatures:

(Warning: Don't read if you haven't finished the game yet so that it doesn't ruin it for you!)

Spoiler: show

--- For the first question it took me a lot of time because many answers fit and you never really gave any hints as to what it could be.

(Honeybees could be afraid of men, bears, and/or other rival honeybees, so hints along the way would be appreciated.)

--- For the second one it took me a lot of tries to get it right as it could fit many other answers and doesn't sound too realistic. Mermaids live deep underwater, and are smart enough to know about hooks and fishermen to avoid them. even if a mermaid was ignorant, the hook wouldn't really reach the bottom of the ocean/sea.

--- The third question's answer was easy, but you have to keep in mind that not all people are familiar with fairies or their dust, so providing hints would really make it helpful for a player.

Other than that, for the honeybees' questions, it would've been easier for us if you specified that the first letter should be upper case.

That's it, I hope you find all of this useful for future use. :P

i'm pretty sure all of the answers to the questions were in books somewhere

In the new version, yes the hints and answers were in books in Lilycup and one book was on the shore before leaving to Sailiana.

Also, thanks for reporting the bug, Wabbit. I'll get to it. :)

Oh okay, the answers where in books. Um...   :seraisweatdrop:

But still, it would've been better if some character, maybe even an NPC, pointed out that you can actually read those books, since many players (including me) ignore that aspect of the game unless stated useful.

Oh well... Sowwie for the past post.  :seraiblush:

The first letter of every word. I think it might be TITLE (Can't remember if there's caps or no caps.)

Yes, I know that I am probably bringing this back from the dead but...

I'd just like to say that I reuploaded the game since many reported that links aren't working. This new version of the game contains a few updates:

   1) A new quest, found in Lilycup. Doesn't affect the gameplay but is fun to do.

   2) Bugs and Technical Problems Fixed.

   3) New Icon, and a more professional feeling for the game.

Q: If I have already played the game, does it deserve to be downloaded again?

A: Only if you would like to try the new quest, and see the updates. Story-wise, nothing is changed.
