Hiya MUGI. Sure, that'd be cool. c: Thanks.

How do you want to do it? The unencrypted version on this board isn't up to date, and has some bugs in it - I can either give you an updated unencrypted version, or we can use the program that extracts all the text files.

Actually, I translated The Mirror Lied into German some time ago and it was not nearly as hard as I though it would be. First there were hardly any passages that you could not directly (or slightly indirectly) translate into German (The title would've cause me problems, but titles are in the most cases not translated, since it is a long tradition to give the game an English title. Even German RPG Maker games have English titles, although many RM2k games have German titles).

Furthermore I am sure that Quintessence would be much harder to translate (I actually did translate most of the prologue just to test it, which was not really hard, although I know that there are important quotes/dialogues/scenes I wouldn't be able to translate). The word "mongrel" for instance has no direct translation that would be adequate in this situation, and when the word was used in Wolf's Rain, it was translated with "idiot" which is in the context of Quintessence not the perfect word for this.
Of course, the Mirror Lied has not much text, and it didn't take long to translate it.
The AMS (I had no experience with it at that time) was quite easy to handle, too. The only problem was the limited space in the textboxes. English is a language with a lot of very short words while German has a lot more long words, so sometimes I had to add a line with the "Cell Batch" command or change the translation slightly.

It is, as a matter of fact, a lot of hassle if you do not translate it in the Maker. I recommend copying the game and use one copy for translation and one if you need to look up something in the original context. If you just translate the text, you have to paste and readjust it later and this can be VERY frustrating.

But just to say my humble opinion in 99% I would prefer the original version to a translated copy and also tell it the audience. They should have the chance to play the game in its original state. Many players prefer this, at least in Germany. I realized this, because the half of the people or more (approximately) played the English TML.

Translation of a game is a little hard. May I know why would you like to volunteer to translate this?

I'll repeat my question again: What motivated you to translate TML?

like another game?

I'll repeat my question again: What motivated you to translate TML?

If I may answer the question:
There were various reasons for me to translate The Mirror Lied. Most importantly, I thought, it would be a lot of fun and it was indeed a lot of fun. It was also a challenge for me to see what I was able to do. And, if I may say this, I don't think it was a bad translation and the players liked it.
Okay, that's no difficulty. The game was translated rather easily and fast and it caused me barely any problems.
Another important reason for my translation was that some German players are reluctant to play English games and I can understand this, because you want to enjoy the game and if your English is not that good, you might better play a game in your language.

Reives, you should make a Chinese Quintessence/Mirror Lied/Do You Remember My Lullaby for your faithful Chinese audience and her relatives in rural China and 1 computer. :P
