Gameparts to translate beside Dreamaker Export
« on: February 02, 2012, 03:57:04 PM »
Hey translation teams!
We from Team German have finished our translations, so we wanted to share some information with you that could help you with your translation:

There are some other things to change besides the Dreamaker output.
In the script editor of RPG Maker XP you can find following scripts, you can just replace the text there.
(But be careful not to change anything else, as it could screw up the script)
-> Scene_Save
-->12 super(Question: Where to save)
-> Scene_Load
-->28 super(Question: Which file to load)
-> Scene_End
-->14 s1 = ("Quit Game")
-->15 s2 = ("Cancel")
-> GUBID TTM Menu
-->Character_Bio (Job description of the characters)
-->NoteText (used word for the notes. Attention: You have to use this exact phrase while translating the notes, otherwise the notes will also be placed under "Items"!)
-->58 commands = ["Characters", "Notes", "Equip"]
-->64 commands = ["Save", "Load", "Quit"]
-->328 self.contents.draw_text(x,oy,w, 32, "Description:")

If you want to edit the credits, the event is on the map named "Credits start rollin' " (white event on white background good hiding spot - yeah~)
They are on the tiles 004,006 and 005,006.

Pictures we have changed (you can find them in \Graphics\Pictures)

Thunderbird, thanks to your guide, I have been able to fix the two [known] remaining issues with the Mac/Linux compatible translations, now Notes appear in their correct place and game menu is translated too :)
I'm going to update translations, starting with Spanish that has been the most popular one so far.

Need some help here please. As I am probably missing something or completely lost.

So I have downloaded RPG Maker XP, installed and launched. I could only open a new project as I am missing any .rxproj file from the dev version of TtM.

I could find -> Scene_Save -> Scene_Load and -> Scene_End but no-> GUBID TTM Menu
And even if I translate the items in my new project I don't know how to actually get it into TtM. Which file(s) am I looking for?

And another question... How am I supposed to understand "-->NoteText (used word for the notes. Attention: You have to use this exact phrase while translating the notes, otherwise the notes will also be placed under "Items"!)"

You are seeing a generic Scripts.rxdata made while creating a new RPG Maker project, you should modify the one that comes with To The Moon (In the Data folder) instead.
You don't need RPG Maker XP to edit the Scripts.rxdata file.
Try one of these:
http://rmrk.net/index.php?topic=43771.0
https://code.google.com/p/rxdataeditor/
Open Scripts.rxdata from Data folder of To The Moon with one of those then you can find GUBID TTM Menu and other sections.
About the NoteText = "Note:", you should use the exact same word for Note that you have used in your translation, for example if you used "Notas" it should be "Notas" too.
If you don't use the exact same word, notes do not appear under the notes section in the game's menu, they will appear under items.

Hey Ali, thanks again and sorry for the late reply.
Gemini is superb for this.

I would like to add to the first post:

001-Action01.png is actually located in Graphics\Animations
MemPuzz Numb C.png is actually located in Graphics\Characters
(took me time to understand and figure that out myself)

Window_SaveFile
52      name = "Save#{@file_index + 1}"
54      name = "Auto-Save"
(it is also a good idea to put one space between Save and # - looks better)

I don't like the way Items and Notes descriptions are put in paragraph alligned to block (or as Word names it - Justify) so the letters are stretched in a way of kerning and each line has different density (kerning).
I was googling and trying to figure out how to make it allign to left as commonly used in paragraphs but could not succeed. I am 100% sure it is about this line in GUBID-TTM Menu:
self.contents.draw_paragraph(x,32+oy, w, h, text)

where draw_paragraph(x, y, width, text, indent, line_height)

x, y - Top left position of text lines
width - width of your paragraphc
text - Long text string
indent - pixel indention of first paragraph
line_height - height of text (you want the font size + 2 ideally)

Any hints anybody?
