Hi Everyone.
I am a fan-translator and using RMXP to work on it.
I think that maybe the reason of chinese characters cannot be shown in game is not only the encoding.
At first i use RMXP and change the texts in events directly, it also cannot be shown in game. After that i searched on internet and found a way: chang the Font name in the scripts into a chinese font "黑体". Then every thing goes well.

Maybe that will help you.

Looking forward to see the offical chinese edition comeout soon.

That's plausible. I will work on chinese encoding soon, I will give a try with this method.

RMXP can display more languages than its predecessor. I never succeed to put hebraic in RM03.

@ sparzer
Could you do the same thing than ak47hs, please ?
Run a Windows console and type chcp (Windows key + R, type "cmd", then in the black window type "chcp")
I need the number Windows will give you in order to display thai characters.

I will need need a typical thai font too. Same as Times New Roman or Arial, but with thai characters.

I contacted Reives to get an uncrypted version of the game and edit the font. Maybe I will need to edit soem things on my computer to display asian characters, I don't know for the time being.

This is a game I really, really, REALLY want to show my parents/relatives. I think some of them need it. Any news on the Chinese localization front? And thanks for considering it in the first place. :)

According to Steam the game is available in English, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Korean - so someone must have found a way to work in non-latin character sets. Maybe ask in the translation boards?

I was looking for a Chinese translation of the game, and was surprised that there isn't one yet. Well, not a legal version anyway.

Searching in English ("To the Moon Chinese translation") lead me to this thread. Searching in Chinese ("To the Moon 中文"), on the other hand, lead me to some incredibly shady (huge amount of Flash ads, popups everywhere) site which claims to have both Traditional and Simplified Chinese translation of the game. These are obviously bootlegged versions of the game, though I'm surprised they didn't show up on this forum thread. The screenshot looks legitimate enough, at least.

Anyway, I'm downloading a copy to see how well it works. Will report back when I have had a look.

Guys, if you manage to get together a team for localization, I suggest you try this software to do it: https://poeditor.com/ . It really makes things easier, it has automatic translation and other nice features great for translators.
