Arrow-bow positioning for artists
« on: February 14, 2015, 02:50:33 PM »
Happy Valentine's Day folks. :-* Instead of doing another pixel scene, I made a video for artists drawing cupids and co. this year instead, about which side of the bow the arrow goes on:

Happy Valentine's Day -- Arrow positioning explanation for artists

This is for the Mediterranean (used almost exclusively in Medieval Europe) draw. Thumb draws and etc. tend to be different (I think for those, it's the opposite side for similar reasons).

Cool, now I can learn to shoot like Reivier :) I may never get a bow and arrow but this can help me in the future to make more realistic animations.

Tilting so that the arrow rests in both bow and hand helps aiming.

Happy hearts day - that's a nice cabin! :D

Interesting, now whenever I see a video game or animation with bows and arrows I know if they are doing it right, and if not, I have one more reason to judge them. XD

Wow  :-*

That's pretty much explain a great deal of "Archer's Paradox"
I've been thinking about that a lot when I was little.

And It's pretty much explain about this video :
Spoiler: show

(Even though I still don't understand how she can shoot through the Arrow's head on the last target  ::) )

*Watches video*

-Marksman skill increased!
Videogame developers are not gods that anyone should worship. I hereby decide that is my top existential reason to prove that horrible, horrible misconception, because that is becoming annoyingly rampant in every corner of the internet.  They can deserve critism, or thrashing even. It doesn't even need to be constructive critism. And even if you are a free game developer doesn't mean community is your personal ego farm.

So, on Valentine's Day, a video is posted...screen opens up on a man...in a robe...who then goes on to explain the science of shooting a bow...................IT'S NOT WEIRD, YOU'RE WEIRD!
River: *Drops hacky sack*
River: "Can you throw this is as far as where Anya's at?"
John: "I can try."
John: "(Now I'll amaze her with my feat of strength.)"
John: *Throws hacky sack into ocean*
River: *Runs to cliff edge*
John: "River! Stop looking at my awesome throw and get away from that ledge!"
River: *Backs into John and silently sits down*
John: "(...Nailed it.)"
